Flagg Fever

I must go up to Flagg again, to the lonely Barn by the Green

And all I ask is an old car to carry me to the scene;

And the curved road from Brierlow Bar with a roadside greeting

And a grey mist on the landscape, and old friends meeting.

I must go up to Flagg again, for the call of the Duke of York

Is a wild call and a clear call and a Sunday morning's walk;

And all I ask is a solid meal with the clang of enamelware.

The paliasee and washing up and people everywhere.

I must go to Falgg again to the vagrant gipsy life,

To the hard bunks and the high moors where the wind's like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is the coal box full, and the primus mended,

And a long sleep and  a sweet dream when the weekend's ended.
